SUMMARY: The Commercial Flooring Sales and Junior Estimator will play a crucial role in assisting guests with their flooring needs, providing expert advice, and ensuring they find the perfect flooring solutions for their projects. They will be responsible for all flooring, bidding, and pricing procedures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides bidders with accurate interpretations of a project's scope by reviewing, marking up, and becoming familiar with all flooring plans and specifications.
- Proven experience in retail sales, with a focus on flooring or related home improvement products
- Strong knowledge of various flooring materials, including hardwood, laminate, tile, and carpet.
- Requests information from architects and engineers regarding design issues. Informs all affected trades of changes.
- Prepares a bid invitation for all selected trade partners, complete with a bid deadline, and researches any questions regarding the construction methods and materials.
- Gathers bids from vendors and analyze them for accuracy.
- Obtains bids from several vendors and compares them to determine which is the best bid.
- Prepares a detailed budget based on submitted bids for a given project.
- Marks up bid packages based on subsequent discussions about the scope outlined in the bid.
- Ensures trade performance is at the level discussed during bidding.
- Analyzes any differences between the bid and the actual cost of a project following its closing.
- Establishes an accurate list of vendors with comments regarding their past performance by said trade.
- Researches and contacts future trade for Driven 4 Group's construction projects.
- Performs site visits on renovation projects in order to measure and document existing conditions and write scopes of work for the project.
- Notes all conflicting conditions on the drawings and during the field verification process and send a request for information designed with proposed solutions for the problems.
- Researches alternate products for Value Engineering.
- Prepares presentation packages using the Driven 4 Flooring Template Library for assigned projects, including budget, general scope of work, specific scope of work, clarifications, and assumptions.
- Establishes and maintains client relationships in accordance with Driven 4 Flooring's core principles and values. Maintains the same values and principles throughout the Driven 4 Flooring team.
- Participates in public gatherings and functions. Maintains positive professional relationships with the public, government officials, and trade organizations. Represents Driven 4 Flooring professionally and in accordance with its values and principles.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Education and Experience - High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate); bachelor’s degree in business administration, construction technology, or equivalent is preferred; A minimum of 1-2 years of flooring estimating and sales required. Ability to perform accurate takeoffs and figure labor and material costs. Thorough knowledge of the construction industry and processes. Understanding of financial and accounting policies and practices. Familiarity with related laws and regulations.
- Language Skills – Ability to follow verbal and written work instructions. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial and accounting reports, invoices, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups, and/or board of directors. Ability to interact clearly and effectively, in both written and oral communication, with supervisor, clients, staff, vendors, etc.
- Mathematical Skills –Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. This role requires an above-average knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Other Qualifications: Dependable transportation and a valid driver’s license is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the individual must be able to remain in a stationary position for 90 percent of the time while operating their computer and performing office work. The individual needs to occasionally move about inside the office. They constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, fax machine, and computer printer. They must be able to exchange accurate information with customers and others in the office while interacting. The employee must regularly move up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds. The individual must be capable of reviewing their work for errors and make adjustments as necessary.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this Job, the individual is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. The individual frequently works in a controlled climate.
